Job Description
Responsibilities
Organize materials and ensuring sites are safe and clean.
Prepare cost estimates and ensuring appropriate materials and tools are available.
Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labour costs.
Provide technical advice and suggestions for improvement on particular projects.
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment as required.
Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the best contracts.
Authorize technical drawings and engineering plans.
Draw up work schedules and communicate any adjustments to crew members and clients.
Gather data, compile reports, and deliver presentations to relevant stakeholders.
Complete quality assurance and provide feedback to the team.
Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the
client.
Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
Ensure that all materials used and work performed are in accordance with the
specifications.
Manage, monitor and interpret the contract design documents supplied by the client
or architect.
Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, and the general
workforce involved in the project.
Liaise with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure
compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws.
Communicate with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and
surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of
progress.
Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site
labour force and the work of any subcontractors.
Plan the work and efficiently organize the plant and site facilities in order to meet
agreed deadlines.
Oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site.
Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
