Golden Star (Wassa) Limited, (a member of Chifeng Gold Group), is a gold mining company situated at Akyempim in the Wassa East District of the Western Region, in Ghana – Africa. Since its conception of surface operations in 2005, the consistent growth and development of the mine saw in 2017 its first commercial underground production.To support our continued growth, we are seeking a qualified candidate in the position ofHead of Mine Technical Services.This role is crucial to the overall development and success of the operation.Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will be responsible for leading the Technical Services team to deliver best practice services and support in the areas of mine design, mine planning, survey, geotechnical, geology, mineral resource management, hydrology and growth studies. You will be central to applying technical expertise via systems, processes and technologies that will support to achieve the mine's performance targets. Further, be accountable for developing robust business plans to maximise the value of the mineral resource.Key responsibilities will include:Strategic Mine Planning that maximizes value of the company's assets.Shape strategic evolution and ensure sustainability of mining operations through various studies.Initiate and lead scenario planning for medium and long-term mine plans in response to market and business performance.Consolidation of short, medium and long-term planning information from all areas.Co-ordination of various teams across the business to ensure fully integrated mine plans are developed.Implement best practices across all mine technical areas.Analyse and interpret mining data towards continuous improvement of mining operations.Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.Enhance management systems and standards across all mine technical disciplines.Qualification, skills and experience:A Degree in Mine Engineering, Geology or related disciplinesAt least 10 years experience on mine sites located in developing countries with 5 years' experience in a similar role.At least 3 years in underground mine design (long hole stoping, cut and fill), mine planning and scheduling.Familiarity with JORC code guidelines and experience in Reserve and Resource estimation and reportingExceptional leadership qualities with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Identify key performance indicators, adapt and develop them as needed to achieve objectivesAble to think creatively and innovatively towards unlocking business valueThis is a renewable fixed term position. The onsite camp facilities at Wassa include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, sports bar convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, swimming pool and a fully equipped medical Center.
