Description of Services:
Leadership of Days for Girls’ Ghana Country Team:
The Employee will provide general leadership and guidance to other Days for Girls Ghana program staff and contractors
The Employee will help shape thought leadership for menstrual care and equity in Ghana and throughout West Africa, helping ensure that DfG Advocacy, and advocacy for the menstrual movement is effective
The Employee will work to create strong partnerships and opportunities for DfG and our mission in West Africa
The Employee will ensure that all programmatic, business and operating decisions are aligned with the Days for Girls International vision to reach every girl with ready, feasible access to quality sustainable hygiene & quality health education, building on DfG Ghana’s 3-year plan.
The Employee will be responsible for ongoing convening and relationship building with the Board of DfG Ghana, in collaboration with DfGI.
The Employee will be responsible for setting a positive and transparent working culture in the Country Office
The Employee will ensure the Ghana office is conducting business in accordance with local laws and regulations.
Manage in-country staff including creating work delegation strategies, leading capacity building trainings, and implementing performance reviews
Leading weekly staff meetings and ensuring that all staff members hand in reports & goal setting as required by Country Office
Employee will support country staff with refresher training sessions to ensure highest program and production quality
Employee will ensure the observance of all quality control and inventory systems within the Office
Conduct weekly or bi-weekly meetings with all direct reports.
Program Development:
Be a part of, lead, and implement global and country-level strategy development processes tied to outcomes and impact goals
Assist in creating thought leadership contributions in furthering global program development as a key member of the global team
Ensure that Days for Girls Ghana’s initiatives are in line with DfGI’s overall mission and communications messaging
Analyze programmatic impacts making appropriate changes to existing programs and develop new programs and initiatives as needed
Responsible for establishing, managing, and expanding on pre-existing monitoring and evaluation systems
Develop and implement media & marketing plan including regular social media posts through DfG platforms (Facebook, etc), and seeking opportunities for local representation (at conferences, in newspapers, or other media)
Partnership Development:
Identify, build and manage collaborative relationships with partner organizations
Ensure that all programs are implemented as agreed upon in contracts and MOUs
Collect data from team members to be included in partner reports
Collaborate with DfG country offices to develop and implement multi-country programs
On-Going Program Management:
Oversee the implementation of regional supply chain and enhance the process for optimal results and efficiency
Oversee and implement an effective and transparent fiscal management system that is reported to DfGI regularly and upon request. Ensure funds are spent responsibly and in line with Days for Girls mission and vision
Develop, manage, and build on Days for Girls Ghana's sustainable business plan
Participation in weekly or bi-weekly meetings with direct supervisor and for enterprise program strategy.
Participation in bi-weekly global leadership meetings with DfGI and Country Directors
Creation and submission of Quarterly Activity Reports
Participation in global Days for Girls advocacy
Requirements:
The Regional Director will be a seasoned and mature leader with the following experience and attributes:
Must be host country national.
A minimum of five years of leadership experience, preferably with a mix of social enterprise and international development experience.
A bachelor’s degree and preferably a postgraduate degree..
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multicultural and geographically dispersed teams in complex working environments.
Proven track record in successful business and program development design and authoring/overseeing winning proposals.
Strong foundation of knowledge in one or more of the following: health, sexual reproductive rights, education, economic growth, value chains, entrepreneurship, and/or SMEs.
Written and verbal fluency in English required and at least one local language; French preferred but not required.
Demonstrated passion for the Days for Girls International mission and a desire to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Demonstrated ability to motivate, retain, and mentor staff.
Availability to travel regionally and internationally up to 25 percent of time.
