Position: Senior Career Development Officer
Reporting to: Director of Career Services

Job Summary:The candidate will be responsible for students’ career development, managing the experiential learning programs (job shadowing and mentoring) and assisting in employer engagement. This also involvescontributing to strategic development, coordination and control of programs and services in the Centre to meet the diverse needs of students, alumni and employers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Experiential Learning Programs (Job Shadowing and Mentoring Programs):Manage (planning, execution, evaluation) the Job shadowing and Career Mentoring programs.

Student Coaching and Advising: Provide students with individual coaching and assistance in defining career options as well as support them to develop and implement employment skills and job-search strategies. Coaching must support all career options for life after Ashesi, including traditional employment, start-up opportunities, profit and non-profit options, civic engagement opportunities, and graduate opportunities.

Skills Development Training and Workshops:Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training and skill development workshops and seminars in areas such as resume preparation, interview and networking skills, job-search strategies, communication and presentation skills, experiential learning preparation, etc., based on student needs assessment.

Employer Liaisons:Assist in the development and maintenance of an effective employer relationship and communication program to expand experiential learning and other employment opportunities for students.

Event Planning and Organization:Provide support for departmental events such as Career Fair, Employers Forum, Alumni Networking events, Company Presentations among others.

Resource Management Support: Coordinate resources in support of programming for students such as College Central Network (CCN), Big Interview, electronic and social media, platforms, notice boards/bulletins etc.

Data Collection and Analysis:Collect, analyze and report on data for experiential learning programs.

Job Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor’s Degreein a discipline directly related to psychology, career development and planning, student counseling or employer-college relationswill be preferred.
At least 4 years work experience in a similar role/in a role that makes use of skills required for this role.
Excellent and high level oral and written communication skills.
Project management expertise, strong presentation skills and strong detail orientation.
Great people and teamwork skills and ability to multitask.
Advanced proficiency in Excel as well as strong analytical and quantitative skills required.

Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite

Be able to contribute to the strategic direction of the career services department within the organization.

This position requires that the jobholder is proactive, takes initiative, and displays a high level of maturity and confidentiality in handling issues that come to his/her attention. Ethical behaviour is of prime importance in this role.
