Job Description
A Freight Forwarding company based in Tema is seeking to employ on a full time basis a Sea Freight Manager. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for managing the ocean freight operations of the company. The person is required to be very organized, a self-starter, very diligent and pays attention to details.
Description:
Responsible for managing all aspects of ocean freight operations
Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight
Manage a team of staff to ensure the achievement of KPIs to clients
Ensure on time processing of documentation without errors
Proactively identify and resolve any logistical issues in a timely manner
Manage contracts and service level agreements with logistics service providers
Ensure continuous improvement in customer service through clearly communicating customer expectations and managing the implementation of necessary operational and customer service practices.
Manage cost effectively and ensure operations are profitable
Monitor and report key performance parameters to ensure that operations is running as efficiently as possible.
Demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of commercial freight operations
Monitor all tasks and ensure prompt feedback to clients
Promote growth within the company, through realizing current and future business opportunities.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
A degree or equivalent qualification is required for this position.
Previous experience within Freight Management is essential
Excellent numeric skills.
Excellent customer care skills are required as well as the ability to negotiate, as the role requires the maintenance of good rate tariffs with Shipping Lines.
Ability to organize workflow, build relevant skills and provide employee feedback. A Sea Freight Manager needs to maintain good team morale to ensure high performance standards.
Must be excellent with computer programs e.g. Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
