Job Description:
The Oregon Department of Agriculture is seeking to hire awelltalentedNatural Resource Specialistto help support The Noxious Weed Control Program. As theNatural Resource Specialist 3(Integrated Noxious Weed Specialist)you will beresponsible for planning, implementation and coordination of noxious weed management activities against noxious weed species identified in the ODA Noxious Weed Policy and Classification System. In addition, you willdeterminehow best to treat or manage the infestations.

OurNatural Resource Specialist 3(Integrated Noxious Weed Specialist)is a permanent full-time position,
and is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).The candidate will be working out of the home in Crook County Oregon.

We, atOregon Department of Agriculture(ODA ) ensures the protection of Oregon’s agriculture and natural resources from the invasion and proliferation of invasive noxious weeds. The Noxious Weed Control Program provides technical leadership and coordination of noxious weed control activities, throughout Oregon with; county, state, federal and private land managers.

Working conditions

Some work may need to be conducted during evening hours and on weekends. Work locations away from the office will vary, including a variety of business, public and field locations. Driving great distances in all weather conditions and some overnight travel are required of this position. Employees occasionally applying chemical herbicides products. In addition, driving a 4x4 vehicles off road in rugged areas.

This is what you need to qualify
Three years of experience in natural resources. At least one year of the experience must be in researching, analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating monitoring project activities;AND

A Bachelor's degree in an Agriculture,Biology, Plant Science, Agronomy,Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management,or related area;OR
A total of six years of related experience.

A Master's degree in an Agriculture or related education will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.

A Doctorate degree in an Agriculture or related education will substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

Additional Requirement
This position is required to have and maintain a regulatory weed herbicide applicator license.

Must have knowledge and experience or the ability to gain knowledge and experience through training in driving 4x4 off road vehicle in rugged terrain areas.
