As theNatural Resource Specialist 3(Hemp Inspector)you willprimarilyinspect hemp growers and processors todetermine whether the parties are within compliance or noncompliance with federal and state laws. You willwrite enforcement documents whenenforcement action is decided and provide technical expertise to other department staff, the regulated community, and the public regarding major or complex issues.Youwillprovide education and outreach to stakeholders relative to the enforcement of pertinent laws and regulations.

OurNatural Resource Specialist 3(Hemp Inspector)is a permanent full-time position, is based in Eugene, Oregon andis represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

We, atOregon Department of Agriculture(ODA ) ensures that hemp growers, hemp handlers, and agricultural hemp seed producers are registered and that pre- and post-harvest testing of hemp and hemp products are conducted as required by Oregon hemp statutes and regulations. As the department regulates hemp in Oregon, it is our goal that this program provides:
Assurance of compliance to state laws,

Continued good health, safety and welfare to Oregon’s citizens.

Working conditions
Some work may need to be conducted during evening hours and on weekends. Work locations away from the office will vary, including a variety of business, public and field locations. Driving great distances in all weather conditions and some overnight travel are required of this position. Employees occasionally handle concentrated and diluted pesticide products.

This is what you need to qualify

Natural Resource Specialist 3
Three years of experience in natural resources. At least one year of the experience must be in researching, analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities;AND

A Bachelor's degree in an agriculture, horticulture, environmental sciences, entomology or a directly related area;OR
A total of six years of related (pertinent) experience.

A Master's degree in a Natural Resource related education will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.

A Doctorate degree in a Natural Resource related education will substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
