For a Legal Expert
DISTRICT ASSEMBLIES ANTI-CORRUPTION DATA PLATFORM (DAAD PLATFORM) PROJECT
1) Organizational Background
Socioserve-Ghana (SSG) is an NGO located in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region in Ghana. SSG works to ensure that vulnerable and excluded people have access to good health, quality education, equal rights, and a protected environment.
2) Project Context
Socioserve-Ghana has received funding from Palladium Global PTY Limited (Ghana Branch) to implement a project titled “DISTRICT ASSEMBLIES ANTI-CORRUPTION DATA (DAAD) PLATFORM” in partnership with Odekro PMO (an NGO based in Accra) and Maana Consult (an audit firm based in Accra). The DAAD PLATFORM is intended to be an online data platform of summarized Auditor-General’s reports on 100
District Assemblies in Ghana which will be presented in user-friendly forms such as infographics, audios and local languages that will make it easily accessible to the general public, anti-corruption agencies/institutions and the media.
The objective of the project is to increase access and use of the Auditor-General's reports on District Assemblies by citizens, media and institutions for investigations and anti-corruption work. It is expected that this will contribute to the judicious use of funds by District Assemblies. The project is expected to cover 100 districts.
3) Purpose of the consultancy
SSG seeks the services of a legal expert on retainership basis to provide legal services such as advice, review information generated prior to publication/dissemination, provide legal representation, etc. The legal consultant shall ensure that the risks of disputes, litigations, and lawsuits are avoided.
4) Deliverables
The legal expert undertakes to deliver the following services:
a) Be the legal representation for Socioserve-Ghana on the DAAD Platform Project
b) Provide legal advice for the project team
c) Review all materials meant for publication/dissemination in a timely manner
d) Draft legal documents, memoranda, etc
e) Ensure that litigations and legal suits are avoided
5) Timelines
The legal expert shall work for a period of 9 months, from August 2020 to April 2021.
6) Eligibility
SSG is seeking to engage a qualified legal expert in good standing with;
a) Adequate knowledge in the area of Anti-corruption and Good Governance
b) Demonstrable experience in Development Work and working with Civil Society Organisations
c) Ability to understand and interpret Financial Statements
