Brief DescriptionAs an Industrial Placement within the Asset Management Team you will support the Wales route engineer team manage the vast array of assets within the Track portfolio: From historic freight and branch lines, to our state of the art electrified line, this is an opportunity to put your engineering skills into practice in an environment where modern technology meets Victorian engineering.About the role (External)Key AccountabilitiesSupport the application of the asset management processes in accordance with functional policy to achieve financial and output targets.Schedule examinations, inspections, monitoring and assessment of assets and the evaluation of the reports in accordance with functional policy, systems and standards.Specify and prioritise actions to address defects, comments and other issues raised in the reports, in accordance with standards and functional policy. Undertake engineering analysis and risk assessments of assets or asset components to support the asset management process and scheme development, including business cases and whole life cost analysis. Provide support to the specification and development of enhancement schemes. Determine mitigation actions necessary to reduce the impact of adverse weather on the performance of assets.Maintain asset data and information within the company systems and processes.Provide engineering support and participate in investigations of incidents relating to assets.Monitor the technical development of projects, ascertaining that renewal requirements are sufficient, correctly interpreted and any changes are agreed.Assist with the approval in principle of designs and support acceptance of detailed design certification.EssentialWorking towards an engineering bachelor’s degree.Good communication skills.DesirableKnowledge of engineering policies and standardsAn understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniquesHow to apply (External) Salary: £16,380- £25,875Location will be flexible within the RegionClosing date: 07/04/2021.
