Job Description
Examining and monitoring pregnant women
Assessing care requirements and writing care plans
Carrying out screening tests
Providing information, emotional support and reassurance to women and their partners
Taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures
Caring for and assisting women in labour
Monitoring and administering medication, injections and intravenous infusions during labour
Monitoring the foetus during labour
Advising about and supporting parents in the daily care of their newborn babies
Helping parents to cope with miscarriage, termination, stillbirth and neonatal death
Writing records
Tutoring student midwives/nurses
Identifying high-risk pregnancies
Deliver babies and provide antenatal and postnatal advice, care and support to women, their babies, their partners and families.
Monitoring and examining pregnant women and making necessary referral
Managing labour, conducting deliveries and immediate care of the newborn;
Giving support and advice on the daily care of the baby, including breastfeeding, Bathing and making up feeds
Conversant with modern equipment to aid in conducting delivery safely
Organising antenatal clinic for clients
May perform other related duties such as nursing
Keeping accurate records of activities to meet Ghana Health Service standards
Effectively communicating to clients and their relatives
Qualification and Requirements
Minimum Qualification: Diploma (Degree Nurse with a diploma in midwifery is a plus)
Experience Level: Senior level
Experience Length: 5 -10 years. At least 3 year should be in Supervisory position
Registered with nursing and midwifery council and of good Standing.
Might have supervised midwives/nurses before in a reputable health facility
Able to perform and supervise basic nursing functions
Previous working experience in private health facility is an added Advantage
Being a retired midwife is an added advantage
