Scope of work
An instructional design specialist will be engaged by Farm Radio International to create a training
program and curriculum that builds the skills and competencies needed for Agricultural Extension
Officers (AEOs) to serve as Digital Agricultura Focal Persons (DAFPs). The program will include:
The design for a 3-4-day orientation workshop that provides selected DAFPs with a good grounding in the work they will be doing once posted to their Digital Advisory Hubs at radio stations.
A 12 day “train the trainer” course that will build the skills of five in-station DAFP Facilitators who can then deliver an in-situation training and coaching program for DAFPs as
they work
at the Digital Advisory Hubs at partner radio stations.
Training and coaching methodology and tools that can be used by the in-situ trainers to build the skills and competencies of DAFPs.
Expected deliverables/outputs
Finalized orientation workshop process document that gives a detailed agenda and step by step instructions on how to conduct the workshop.
Finalized “train the trainer” course process document that includes the day by day agenda and steps
Finalized training, coaching methodology, and tools the DAFPs will need for their in-situation training.
Methodology
Orientation on current FRI training principles and approaches with FRI’s Radio Craft Manager
Independent work on instructional design
Check-in meetings with FRI’s Radio Craft Manager
NB. No travel is envisaged for this assignment and the proposed methodology.
Timeframe and Level of Effort (LoE)
Period: 1 st June to 30th June 2020
LoE: 8 days
Other Requirements
Degree in adult education, instructional design;
Knowledge and experience in curriculum building and training;
Knowledge and experience in Communication for Development and/or Social and Behaviour Change Communication
Knowledge and experience in radio production
Familiarity with ICTs and agriculture extension sub-sector developments and policies in Africa and around the world;
Excellent English writing skills;
Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines;
Ability to work collaboratively and to engage with team members at a distance;
Familiarity with the context of Ghana
