Overview

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
SCCA is seeking a part-time clinical acupuncturist within the Integrative Medicine department to provide direct patient care. Initially this position will provide acupuncture treatments at the SCCA South Lake Union campus. In the future travel to other nearby SCCA community sites will be required.

As a licensed acupuncturist, you will provide intensive symptom and side effect management as a member of a multidisciplinary care team in SCCA's outpatient clinic. This role will collaborate closely with a core team that includes the IM Medical Director, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, social workers, physical therapists, psychiatry, pain management and palliative care clinics. This role requires highly-developed clinical skills and the ability to work with a diverse oncology population. This position will report to the SCCA Acupuncture Supervisor.
Responsibilities

Provide clinical expertise in implementing delivery of outpatient acupuncture services to SCCA's oncology patient population
Use evidence-based acupuncture techniques to treat patient symptoms and treatment side effects using acupuncture needles and other tools
Evaluate and document patient progress related to symptom management and services rendered, interfacing across multi-modality clinical care and electronic medical record
Serve as needed on the multi-disciplinary IM clinical care team

Qualifications

Required:
Successful completion of an accredited acupuncture graduate degree program
3+ years acupuncture experience, including demonstrated clinical experience with cancer and/or other critically ill populations and appropriate acupuncture techniques utilized for management of symptoms and treatment side effects
Must be a licensed acupuncturist in the State of Washington or meet criteria to obtain Washington State license
Board Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Strong aptitude and enthusiasm for establishing patient rapport, delivery of patient education and explaining acupuncture treatment services
Strength in developing, organizing and sustaining written procedures and documentation
Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems
Self-awareness and a professional demeanor

Preferred:
Doctorate/post-doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) from Accredited Institution
Additional clinical degree or certification (RD, LMT, RN, MA, MSW, etc.)
Formal training in Chinese herbal medicine
Clinical research experience
Process improvement experience (LEAN Leader, Six-Sigma, continuous performance improvement, etc.)
Familiarity with medical insurance payment administration, and acupuncture coverage determination
Ability to navigate organizational complexity within academic, research and/or multi-modal health systems
